CSQC Publication – Charge Transfer and Spin Dynamics in a Zinc Porphyrin Donor Covalently Linked to One or Two Naphthalenediimide Acceptors

A collaborative study form the Wasielewski and Beratan groups examined the role of electronic and spin coherence in charge separation and recombination that occurs in donor-bridge-acceptor species with one or two acceptors.     The studies indicate that while charge recombination is a spin-coherent process, incoherent hopping of the electron between the two acceptors is consistent with the lack of delocalization found in experimental and theoretical studies, resulting in greater spin decoherence in the species with two acceptors rather than just one.
