Science Writing for Public Engagement
Dr. Jory Weintraub of Duke’s Science & Society Initiative taught a CSQC-sponsored workshop on informal science communication. Students and postdocs learned how to capture the significance and excitement of their research in a written format that can be easily grasped by non-scientists. The workshop covered strategies for composing a one- or two-page description of a complex scientific topic aimed at engaging the non-specialist audience as well as the general non-scientist public. The webinar was recorded for viewing later by new CSQC members.
